Paul Gilks is a Corporate Partner with a long standing career at top City of London Law firms and is a recognised specialist in private equity and real estate finance work with a particular emphasis on entrepreneur-led growth businesses. He has longstanding client relationships with many connections at CEO and NED level.
Paul mainly advises on international and UK mergers and acquisitions, private equity and the licensing and protection of intellectual property for clients in the technology, media, real estate and retail sectors. He also has experience of acting on banking and financing transactions.
Paul’s clients include private equity investors, management teams, US corporations and companies that have expanded their business by acquisition in Europe.
He has acted on many management buyout transactions and venture capital investments, particularly technology investments, for both the investor and the management team. He is also experienced in the hotels and leisure sector.
He is the current contributor to the Private Equity section of Sweet & Maxwell’s Practical Commercial Precedents (which he has done since 1992) and was for many years the contributor to the Management Buyout section of Sweet & Maxwell’s Commercial Transaction Checklists (1997 – 2013).
