The easing of furlough within the fashion retail industry: Amanda Lennon quoted in Drapers
Our Employment Law Partner Amanda Lennon is quoted in leading fashion business publication Drapers on the impact of the end of the Job Retention Scheme on fashion retail workers.
The article explores how the scheme was used by many fashion outlets, and what is happening now that the industry is starting to wean off furlough.
Amanda notes, “Reopening has started to ease reliance on the furlough scheme, but shops are still quiet and there is a significant doubt that the high street will ever return to its pre-Covid days. The furlough scheme has kept many businesses afloat, but I am expecting retailers to have to significantly rethink their positions once the scheme is withdrawn. Inevitably there will be more store closures, job losses and rationalisation, particularly of big stores.”
