Foreign Takeovers Rise in the UK

10 March 2025

The Office for National Statistics has reported that foreign firms acquired £7.4 billion worth of UK companies in Q4 2024, marking a £1.1 billion increase from Q3 2024 in inward mergers and acquisitions (M&A).

Partner James Klein weighed in on this trend, noting, “UK companies are increasingly looking overseas, particularly to the US, for strategic partnerships, which often leads to further deal activity. Conversely, acquiring UK businesses provides overseas firms with strategic diversification, helping them mitigate risk and access new customer bases and revenue streams.”

James Klein also shared further insights on the rise in foreign acquisitions in Business Money.
