Spencer West Celebrates Tamara Maduro’s Election as First Vice President of the BVI Bar Association
Spencer West is proud to announce that Tamara Maduro has been elected as the First Vice President of the British Virgin Islands (BVI) Bar Association. This significant achievement was confirmed during the Bar Association’s Annual General Meeting, chaired by President Scott Tolliss, with contributions from the outgoing Council members.
The BVI Bar Association, a voluntary organisation comprised of legal professionals in the British Virgin Islands, was founded on 8 May 1976 by eight founding members. Today, the association boasts a membership of nearly 200 individuals and is led by a five-person executive Council, which serves as the voice of the association’s members.
The AGM was a successful event, filled with insightful discussions and valuable contributions from various members. The outgoing Council was thanked for their outstanding term, marked by robust member and stakeholder engagement, numerous events, and key projects that have brought lasting value to the legal profession.
Following a highly competitive election, the newly elected Council for the BVI Bar Association is as follows:
- President: Scott Tolliss, Maples Group
- First Vice President: Tamara Maduro, Spencer West LLP
- Second Vice President: Merrick Ricardo Watson, Kobre & Kim
- Treasure: Charlie Goldblatt, Conyers
- Secretary: Brittney Smith, BVI FIA
