Fudia Smartt comments on insurance risks of work from anywhere in People Management
With the increase in hybrid working since the pandemic, many businesses are now offering a work from anywhere (WFA) approach. For some employees, this has meant taking the opportunity to work from abroad.
In a recent article in People Management magazine, employment lawyers explored the insurance risks involved with staff working overseas and what businesses must do to ensure they have the right cover in place.
Fudia Smartt, Employment Partner at Spencer West, contributed to the discussion, warning that having staff working abroad opens up “numerous risks for employers”, in terms of insurance coverage, saying further: “Even where employers have insurance for staff working remotely, the terms need to be carefully considered to ensure compliance and to have clarity on what is and is not covered,”.
