South West Business Insider features Jowanna Conboye on protecting IP, post-Brexit
Our Intellectual Property and Technology Partner Jowanna Conboye has been featured in the July print edition of South West Business Insider, discussing how to protect IP now that Britain has left the EU.
The article also considers the issues of globalisation and the rise of the Chinese superpower, amongst other rising manufacturing nations, which also pose threats to IP.
Jowanna says that Brexit has given businesses a reason to step back and think about the way they operate: “Some of the South West businesses I work with have given more thought to their global sales strategy, and in some cases accelerated it. Previously, a startup business may have focused on the UK initially, the EU after a couple of years and other global jurisdictions at around the five-year mark. Brexit has changed this for some businesses. They may still focus on the UK initially, but then expand into the EU and global markets simultaneously.”
